Covering Coalgebras and Dual Non-singularity

چکیده
Localisation is an important technique in ring theory and yields the construction of various rings of quotients. Colocalisation in comodule categories has been investigated by some authors (see Jara et al., Commun. Algebra, 34(8):2843– 2856, 2006 and Nastasescu and Torrecillas, J. Algebra, 185:203–220, 1994). Here we look at possible coalgebra covers π : D → C that could play the rôle of a coalgebra colocalisation. Codense covers will dualise dense (or rational) extensions; a maximal codense cover construction for coalgebras with projective covers is proposed. We also look at a dual non-singularity concept for modules which turns out to be the comodule-theoretic property that turns the dual algebra of a coalgebra into a nonsingular ring. As a corollary we deduce that hereditary coalgebras and hence path coalgebras are non-singular in the above sense. We also look at coprime coalgebras and Hopf algebras which are non-singular as coalgebras.

Duality for Logics of Transition Systems
We present a general framework for logics of transition systems based on Stone duality. Transition systems are modelled as coalgebras for a functor T on a category X . The propositional logic used to reason about state spaces from X is modelled by the Stone dual A of X (e.g. if X is Stone spaces then A is Boolean algebras and the propositional logic is the classical one). In order to obtain a m...
متن کاملFunctorial Constructions for Non-associative Algebras with Applications to Quasi-bialgebras
The aim of this paper is to establish a contravariant adjunction between the category of quasibialgebras and a suitable full subcategory of dual quasi-bialgebras, adapting the notion of finite dual to this framework. Various functorial constructions involving non-associative algebras and non-coassociative coalgebras are then carried out. Several examples illustrating our methods are expounded a...
متن کاملDefining a Formal Coalgebraic Semantics for The Rosetta Specification Language
Rosetta is a systems level design language that allows algebraic specification of systems through facets. The usual approach to formally describe a specification is to define an algebra that satisfies the specification. Although it is possible to formally describe Rosetta facets with the use of algebras, we choose to use the dual of algebra, i.e. coalgebra, to do so. Coalgebras are particularly...
متن کاملUniversal coalgebra: a theory of systems
In the semantics of programming, nite data types such as nite lists, have traditionally been modelled by initial algebras. Later nal coalgebras were used in order to deal with in nite data types. Coalgebras, which are the dual of algebras, turned out to be suited, moreover, as models for certain types of automata and more generally, for (transition and dynamical) systems. An important property ...
متن کاملDual Adjunctions Between Algebras and Coalgebras
It is shown that the dual algebra functor from coalgebras to algebras has a left adjoint even if the base ring is not a field but an arbitrary commutative ring with 1. This result is proved as a corollary to a more general theorem on adjunctions between comonoids and monoids over suitable symmetric monoidal categories. MSC 2000: Primary 16B50, Secondary 18A40
